UAE

A country that houses more than 200 nationalities, yet has a native population that represents less than 10 per cent of its residents, the United Arab Emirates has become one of the most unique countries to emerge in the Middle East. Its unique urban condition and history (or lack thereof) has set it apart from its neighbors, allowing it to blossom into the UAE of today. It is an Arab success story, an example of urbanization that has eluded other parts of the region as well as its ability to integrate various ethnic groups in a multi-cultural setting. From its highly criticized use of foreign labor workers, to its over-the-top endeavors, the UAE represents an adventurous young child in the midst of it's traditional ancestors. At forty years young, it has become a fascinating subject of continuing visual investigation.
