Socotra

Socotra is a small island off the coast of Yemen, but being there, one feels as though they are on an entirely different planet. From its surreal wildlife, to its technologically immune and infinitely kind residents, Socotra is one of a kind. A part of Yemen that most Yemeni's have never traveled to, it has only recently opened doors to tourism when the modest airport was built in 1999. And even then, most have never heard of the wonder land that is Socotra. Western media has placed such a negative stigma on the Middle East that most find it quite difficult to believe that such a treasure exists in Yemen.
